IISc as JAM 2021 controlling Institute

As this is the most accepted entry point for doing master’s study in IITs and IISc, most students looking for high-quality higher education in India apply for this. So, the IISc Bangalore JAM Administration Committee wanted a failsafe Portal which can handle nearly 1 Lac unique visits per day during the closure of Admission. Moreover, they wanted a dynamic framework so that any information can be updated to the site almost instantly. Huge number of concurrent visitors were the biggest challenge for this project. The development time given was pretty less. Due to the Covid-19 hurdle the job came to us quite late.

Cygnus Advertising with its experience of over two decades in 360 Degree Communication Solution Services, undertook the challenge. Our dedicated Web Solution Team accomplished the project successfully, in time and keeping all the technical parameters intact.

• Strong Framework To ensure quick development, fail safe concurrent visitors handling, quick update of content, full responsiveness of the Portal we have adapted the development platform as under HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap Responsive Framework for Frontend PHP, My-SQL, CodeIgniter MVC Framework for backend WCMS using custom developed WYSIWYG Editor for quick content update, DB-Connection pooling to handle huge concurrent visitors.
• Concurrent Development To fight the stiff delivery deadline the Graphics Design, HTML development, Responsiveness implementation, Database design and Backend Coding all ran simultaneously.
• Deployment We delivered the final Database and Code backup as ready-to-deploy package and was seamlessly deployed in the Azure Cloud of IISc as per the planned delivery schedule.
• Maintenance Later, whenever any change request came from the IISc JAM Authority, that were implemented almost instantaneously.

• The Portal is running till date with 0 Downtime
• Unique Visits till date is 42,78,935 + (however visit from the same IP, same day is ignored)
• Successfully handled heavy duty Concurrent Traffic Load
