The most sought-after
term in today’s technologically advanced era seems to be Artificial
Intelligence (AI). Talk to even a layman, irrespective of whether he is aware
of the term, he would aptly mention it.
But the question is: Isn’t too much of dependence on AI challenging the innate human mind? Or in other words, aren’t humans currently too dependent on AI or Artificial Intelligence?
The basic Difference
A research reveals that human mind falls back on innovative thinking and creativity, to give birth to newer ideas. On the contrary, AI generates approaches taking recourse to existing data but often faces flak for lacking originality. Human decisions are subject to factors not depending totally on data.
Crux of the Matter
You are born with certain qualities and as you grow up they are nurtured over a period of time. You learn in school, colleges, universities and even in day-to-day lives. So, does it imply that we have been dependent on others to acquire and improve our skills? Doesn’t it also imply that natural intelligence is slowly and steadily paving way for Artificial Intelligence in all the aspects?
Yes, it is…
We also enlighten and enrich ourselves from artificial sources be it books, TV, social media and others. So, to say that Artificial Intelligence is a debutant would be a misnomer. There is nothing called natural knowledge – it is all derived from other sources and in the process with knowledge comes reasoning and wisdom which matures with age. Critics might fume at this concept stating that we are raising fingers at human intelligence but as mentioned before, the skill set we develop nurtures our capacity to understand and identify problems which makes us work on our minds to find solutions. And this is where we find similarities with Artificial Intelligence.
No offence meant
The article doesn’t mean to hurt anyone or any technology but is for now sure that the difference between human and artificial intelligence is diminishing. We as humans also depend on other sources to flourish so in one sense, we are also dependent on AI to gain knowledge and intelligence. But the debate will go on.
